Significant Dookie Movements:
‘99 - Inaugural Dookie Tournament with only 3 events (golf, darts and euchre) and 8 competitors. Drew names out of a hat to determine partners.
‘00 - Added croquet and horseshoes as events, and increased to 12 competitors. Golf was at Oakmont East and darts at Plaza Lanes.
‘01 - Increased to 16 competitors. Added bowling as an event. This balanced the competitive brackets, and split the events into half-indoor and half-outdoor. Switched to Wildlife Lanes, where we bowled and played darts.
‘02 - The most competitive tournament ever, with just 16 points separating first and last place. The top-4 spots we’re just 3 points apart! Pewter tankards were ordered from Sheffield England and we got them engraved with the winners name on them: the Mugs were born.
‘03 - Switched from personal balls, to house balls in bowling.
‘04 - Moved to Oak Lake golf course, forever sharing the same weekend as the Gunny Open.
‘05 - Dookie got its own website!
‘06 - Saturday’s reunion picnic ”family day” reaches its peak.
‘07 - Murrysville golf course.
‘08 - Lenape Heights golf course. The end of the co2 tap system for beer. Signature fireworks display by Pappa Dookie.
‘09 - The last year we drew names out of a hat to pick partners, just prior to starting the first events.
‘10 - Wicket-gate
‘11 - First year of getting an extra point for winning an event (1st place=9pts). Friday nights switched to Nesbit Lanes, and then Kinloch fire hall (instead of Peanuts Bar) for darts.
‘12 - The Dookie Mugs got plinths added to the bottoms. We bought new Amish croquet sets. Marshall and Rory won three of the six events, but still lost to Dan and Tony (who only won one event).
‘13 - Ryder’s Cup style tournament: 8-man-team Legend of Snoopy, beat Ancestors of Odin. The first year of “intermission events” called Captains Challenges
‘14 - First year of 4-man teams. Round-Robin in the field events took hold. This was the second year that we were able to pause at the turn at Oak Lake and switch golf partners mid-match.
‘15 - Almost had an overall tie: it came down to the final two games of euchre , which we used to save for Sunday’s after golf.
‘16 - Changed to Stableford scoring system in golf.
‘17 - Spring Church golf course
‘18 - Dookie stopped providing beer, switching to BYOB for the first time in nearly 20 years.
‘19 - Dropped bowling as an event, and replaced it with bocce. Built dart board stands, and switched to outdoor steel-tip darts at Dookie Ranch. Switched order of events: golf moved from Sunday to Friday. This gave us 5 outdoor events, and after golf on Friday, a more “campout” feel.
‘20 - Covid saw us have a scrimmage “Diet Dookie” with 8 competitors in the early summer, congrats to Ryan and Jeff. Dookie Proper was held in the autumn for the first time, with only 14 competitors. We dropped euchre, and contested Dookie over 5 events. This was the first time we had two-man teams in 8 years.
‘21 - Back to our favorite formula: 16 Dookie’s, four-man teams, five events, the weekend after the 4th of July. We introduced a new playoff format after the field event round robins: the top 2 seeds get a bye, with seeds 3 through 6 battling in the first round of playoffs.
‘22 - The Saxon Inn is recognized as the official restaurant of The Dookie.
'25 - A 2nd plinth was added to the mugs
